"Prepare your outside work, Make it fit for yourself in the field; And afterward build your house." (Prov 24:27 NKJV)
After over thirty hours of travel, we wound our way through the sparsely lit roads of Roatan to the church. Pete, Tina, Mitch, Hannah, and the church staff greeted us with welcomed hospitality, and after a delicious bowl of soup, the team scattered to their places of rest. We arose this morning to the familiar facility, one we have visited year after year, yet it seemed different.
Exhausted would be a good word to describe this somewhat run-down and dust-covered place. Pushing past feelings that might otherwise overwhelm us, we got on task. Following breakfast and devotion we received our assignments and labored for the Lord until lunch and beyond. The preparation made by the first waves of the team was evident as we clicked along and had the first section of the floor removed by 10:30 am. Sam ran a clean-up and dump run crew. Some local men joined Pete, Mitch, and Clint in the hole to remove the termite-infested understructure. Sarah, Jen, and the rest hauled the debris from the site. And Jake donned a locksmith’s hat and started installing door locks.
We all felt well accomplished in a good day’s work and enjoyed our evening devotion with our feet in the gentle surf of the Caribbean. Join with us to pray that each day of our trip will be as productive if not more than today.
